CATHOLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS AND TUITION ASSISTANCE POLICIES AT SAINT THOMAS MORE CHURCH

At this time of the year many of our Parish Families choose Catholic School Education for their children.
This is an expensive choice that parents make prayerfully after considering the financial sacrifice it will mean for them as a family.

The Diocese of Palm Beach established a program of Tuition Subsidies designed to assist families that are registered, active and contributing members of St. Thomas More Church and any other non-school parish . Registered is defined as membership on STM Parish roles for at least 6 months. Active means attending Mass at STM as a family on Sundays and on Holy Days. Contributing is defined as using the STM envelop-system of tithes and offerings and making a minimum annual contribution of $800 per child considered for Tuition Assistance.

Qualified families receive the In-Parish tuition rate at any Catholic School in the Diocese of Palm Beach. You do not need to register in the Parish with the School of your choice in order to receive In-Parish rates. Tuition Assistance paid by STM is based on your faithful participation in the full life of STM Parish, and my acknowledgment of your child or children qualifies them for the In-Parish rate at the School-Parish. Please keep I n mind that qualified families from STM are in no way obligated to contribute offertory to the School-Parishes. Likewise, your contributions to other Parishes are not considered when evaluating your family for Tuition Assistance from STM.

Bishop Gerald Barbarito has established definitively the obligations and scope of Tuition Assistance for Non-School Parishes like STM.

Tuition Assistance is also available directly from STM PreSchool. An independent committee evaluates families for partial or full scholarships based first on financial need, then with points given for Parish Membership at STM, and affirmative choice for minorities and for children of single-parent households. STM never offers Tuition Assistance to families with children attending preschools outside of STM.

Please know that ALL of our Parish Families requesting Tuition Assistance are evaluated according to the same set of standards without exception; this is an issue of fairness and consistency. This approach removes any question of favoritism and is a responsible stewardship of the tithes and offerings given by all the Parishioners of St. Thomas More Church.

Printed Guidelines of STM Tuition Assistance Policies is available upon request at the Parish Office.
